Last week I welcomed Congressman John Lewis and other community leaders to my hometown of Camden for a forum on gun safety. We spoke with those who have had first hand experience with the devastation gun violence causes to families and communities.
In June, I joined Congressman Lewis for a sit-in on the House floor to demand action on common sense gun safety. The measures we are fighting for, such as closing the loophole that allows suspected terrorists to buy guns, are supported by Democrats and Republicans alike. Yet even on issues where we have common ground, House Republicans decided to side with the NRA and block our efforts.
I will not be deterred. We must continue to stand up the extremists that are preventing action on gun safety. You can read the Courier Post's coverage on our forum here.
