Norcross Addresses Government Shutdown at Event for South Jersey Business Leaders

Congressman Donald Norcross had the chance to speak to South Jersey business leaders today.

On Monday, January 28th, Norcross gave the keynote address at the Public Policy Speaker Series, which welcomed more than 150 South Jersey business leaders at Adelphia Restaurant hosted by officials with the Southern New Jersey Development Council.

Norcross addressed the government shutdown and gave a presentation on the legislative agenda and policy priorities of Congress and its impact on the South Jersey region.

Norcross on NJ $15 Minimum Wage Agreement

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross – a member of the House Education and Labor Committee and an electrician by trade – applauded the agreement by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Speaker Craig Coughlin to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour predictably over the next six years and issued the following statement:

“Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney and Speaker Coughlin joined me for their first public appearance together calling for $15 an hour minimum wage a little more than a year ago. Today, I’m glad to see they have announced an agreement that will help over a million workers and boost New Jersey’s economy."

Norcross, Kuster, Kaptur, Lead Call to Speaker Pelosi & Leader Hoyer to Prioritize Policies to Tackle the Opioid Epidemic in the New Congress

Today, Representatives Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) are leading more than sixty of their colleagues in calling on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to prioritize policies that will help tackle the opioid epidemic. A recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found a dramatic increase in deaths nationally due to synthetic opioids such as fentanyl and increases in overdose deaths in many of the hardest hit states.

Norcross Votes to Reopen Government

Norcross Announces $4.8 Million in Funding for Two South Jersey Health Centers

Two South Jersey health centers have received federal funding to continue providing access to quality healthcare in the area.

On Friday, December 14th, Congressman Donald Norcross announced that two federally-qualified health centers in South Jersey will receive nearly $4.8 million from the United States Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Center Program.
