U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker along with Congressman Donald Norcross (D-N.J.-01) have announced $7,392,914 in U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding for South Jersey.

The grants will bolster state and local government port security, terrorism prevention, emergency preparedness, and transit security efforts.

“I’ve fought to win millions of dollars to invest in New Jersey’s security because our vital infrastructure, incredible diversity and close proximity to New York and Philadelphia means we will always be a prime target for threats,” said Senator Menendez. “These federal funds provide New Jersey law enforcement agencies, first responders, and nonprofits with the resources they need to enhance their capabilities and ensure all of our communities remain safe.”

“New Jersey is home to some of our region’s most critical infrastructure and plays a significant role in keeping our nation moving,” said Senator Booker. “Unfortunately, we also know that these vital assets are a prime target for threats, so we need to ensure all levels of government are working together to protect them. This federal funding will provide our law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and nonprofits the resources they need to keep themselves, our families, and our communities safe.”

“We need all of the resources we can muster to stop acts of violence before they happen. By providing funding to harden targets in our communities, we’re smartly investing dollars to help keep the people of South Jersey safe,” said Congressman Donald Norcross, a member of the House Armed Services Committee. “Along with our committed Senators, I will continue to fight for all of the resources needed to ensure our law enforcement agencies and first responders are best able to protect New Jerseyans.”
