U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced that Saint Joseph’s Carpenter Society will receive $207,500 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) NeighborWorks America program to help provide affordable housing in Camden.

“With more jobs, less crime and positive educational results, it’s clear Camden is rising – and now we’re seeing more affordable housing options for our friends and neighbors,” said Congressman Norcross. “I’ve long-said that everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live, and organizations like Saint Joseph’s Carpenter Society are rebuilding homes so that no family gets left behind. As always, I look forward to continuing to work with our partners at every level of government, charities and businesses as we keep making Camden an even better place to call home.”

“This funding from NeighborWorks America allows us to help families invest in themselves while also investing in the future of Camden. We are grateful for Congressman Norcross’s leadership and advocacy in engaging with us to pursue a pathway forward for Camden and families who are working hard every day to have a healthy home in a vibrant neighborhood,” said Pilar Hogan Closkey, the executive director of Saint Joseph’s Carpenter Society.

Saint Joseph’s Carpenter Society provides services for prospective and current homeowners in Camden. With long-range community development goals, the Society offers homeowner education, along with home construction and rehabilitations.
