U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross released the below statement on his vote in favor of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, which recommits America to the Paris Climate Agreement and lays the groundwork for further climate action.

“By withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, our country wrongfully prioritized corporate polluters over the health and well-being of our children and grandchildren. We must follow sound science, embrace global cooperation and build a 21st century clean-energy economy.

“Additionally, the pace and severity of global climate change prompted military experts in both the Bush and Obama Administrations to consider climate change a national security threat and, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I believe we must take that threat seriously.

“For the sake of our national security, our economy, the health of Americans and our country’s sustainable future, I urge the Senate to bring this bill to the finish line and advance America’s strong global leadership instead of siding with climate and science deniers.”
