Norcross to Co-Chair Rebuilding America Task Force

U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) – member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce – today announced he will serve in a leadership role in the House Democratic Caucus Jobs for America task forces, a unified effort from the House Democratic Caucus to craft a legislative agenda that will benefit working Americans. Norcross will serve as co-chair for the Rebuilding America Task Force.

“Working families in New Jersey and across the country are struggling to make ends meet – and Democrats are fighting to raises wages, improve our aging infrastructure and focus on the jobs of the future,” said Norcross. “I worked as electrician and learned the value of hard work while connecting power to homes and businesses and restoring power to storm-ravaged communities. I know that the best social program is a good job with fair wages and the dignity that comes with it. I look forward to working with my colleagues as we focus on Jobs for America – more high-skilled, high-wage jobs.”

The Rebuilding America Task Force purports to want to put Americans back to work by rebuilding the country’s crumbling infrastructure, expanding job opportunities in key industries, advancing school construction projects, hardening the power grid, improving storm resiliency, expanding internet access, getting lead out of pipes and more. Plus, the Task Force will take a visionary approach to the projects needed to put our country at the forefront of innovation, according to Norcross.

The Rebuilding America Task Force is one of five Democratic Caucus Jobs For America Task Forces aimed at identifying opportunities and solutions for American workers in five key areas: Rebuilding America, Jobs With Dignity, Access to Jobs, New Economy, and Reinvesting in Our Returning Heroes. In the coming months, co-chairs of each task force will meet with American workers, business and labor leaders and issue experts to develop policy goals and solutions that will benefit all Americans. The effort was launched by the House Democratic Caucus.

“Investing in our infrastructure is one of the most effective ways to secure high-paying jobs for the hardest-working men and women across the country. This effort will produce specific legislation that will rebuild our nation’s crumbling bridges and roads, build schools, and upgrade an antiquated power grid,” said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY). “I’m grateful to Congressman Norcross for his leadership in this important effort that will help spur job creation and strengthen our economy.”
