Reps. Donald Norcross, Mikie Sherrill and Tom Malinowski lauded the House’s passage of a bill that would increase ballot access, limit dark money and pump up oversight of federal officials.

“I’ve always supported making voting easier, not harder – and it’s a good thing we finally have the opportunity to give more Americans the ability to have their voices heard, to implement campaign finance reform and to restore trust in our public institutions,” Norcross said.

Today, Congressmen Donald Norcross (D-NJ-01) and David McKinley, P.E. (R-WV-01) hosted the inaugural meeting of the Congressional Bipartisan Building Trades Caucus in the 116th Congress. With both new and seasoned colleagues in attendance, the meeting focused on infrastructure, apprenticeships, retirement security and prevailing wage.

Norcross, an electrician by trade, and McKinley, an engineer who worked and taught in the construction industry, launched the caucus in 2016. The effort brings together Members of Congress from both sides of aisle to discuss issues that affect the millions of men and women who work in the construction industry.

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross – a former minimum-wage worker – voted in favor of the Raise the Wage Act, of which he is a lead sponsor, in the House Committee on Education and Labor. This marked the first vote in more than a decade to raise the federal minimum wage.

Ahead of a public meeting with South Jersey residents and New Jersey’s Transportation Commissioner, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the following statement on the Atlantic City Rail Line:

“The tens of thousands of people in South Jersey, our state and the region who rely on the Atlantic City Rail Line deserve to have normalcy returned to them as soon as possible. And last week, I expressed this to NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Gutierrez-Scaccetti and New Jersey Transit (NJT) Executive Director Corbett.

When the shooting started at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., Carly Novell ducked into a closet inside her journalism classroom and waited.

She said she felt “stoic,” and “in shock really,” as she and her classmates got snippets of information through texts about the killing unfolding in her school on Feb. 14, 2018. It wasn’t until later that she thought about the cruel history: She was the second person in her family to avoid death in a mass shooting this way.
