Nonprofits announce Camden Works, employment initiative they hope will connect city residents to job training — and jobs

“There is no shortage of talented and ambitious people in the city of Camden; what has been lacking are the mechanisms to match that talent with employers and training programs that can set them on the path to a rewarding career,” U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.) said.

Norcross Announces More than $3M to Help South Jersey Families

U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced $3,012,099 in funding to address the opioid crisis, reducing youth homelessness and implementing neighborhood outreach programs. The funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF).

“The programs funded by these grants offer support to vulnerable groups in our community – including homeless youth and children with a family member struggling with addiction,” said Congressman Norcross, Vice-Chair of the Bipartisan Addiction Task Force. “I’m hopeful that these federal resources will help change lives here in South Jersey. We will continue to work with our neighborhood partners to address the needs of all those in our community battling the disease of addiction.”

Norcross Announces Introduction of the College Affordability Act

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) joined Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-03) and Members of the Committee on Education and Labor in introducing the College Affordability Act – a comprehensive overhaul of the higher education system that lowers the cost of college for students and families, improves the quality of higher education through stronger accountability and expands opportunity by providing students the support and flexibility they need to succeed.

The landmark legislation comes more than 10 years after the last reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA) and at a time when the combination of rising tuition and crushing debt is undermining students’ access to the benefits of a college degree.

Norcross Announces More Than $700K for South Jersey Health Centers

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced that the Osborn Family Health Center, CAMcare Health Corporation and Project H.O.P.E. will receive a total of $727,683 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Center Program.

“Everyone ought to have access to quality health care – it’s that simple, and community health centers play an important role in ensuring there’s access for all,” said Congressman Norcross. “Investments like these improve the well-being of our neighbors and friends, help us battle the disease of addiction at home and support jobs for hard-working health care professionals who devote their time to helping others.”
